According to reports, stones were hurled at the train, triggering panic among passengers present at the station. People were seen scrambling in different directions to find safety. The video of the incident has since sparked widespread discussion in the area.
Modi flagged it off just days earlier
This is the same train that Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off on the Jind-Sonipat route on July 17, calling it the country's first hydrogen train. Its launch had already made headlines and drawn attention across the region.
Fares as low as Rs 5 to Rs 25
Travelling on this train does not weigh heavily on passengers' pockets. Depending on the distance, fares have been fixed at Rs 5, Rs 10, Rs 15 and Rs 25. On its first day, 20 passengers boarded the train from Jind, with commuters showing considerable enthusiasm about the new service.
Train to run 6 days a week, off on Fridays
Under the new schedule, the train will operate only six days a week, with services suspended on Fridays. That is the reason the train did not run on one particular day. For safety, the train is also fitted with a special alarm system that will sound in case of a gas leak.
