Popular Punjabi music artist Kamal Grewal has found himself at the center of a grave extortion controversy after receiving chilling threats demanding a massive sum of five crore rupees. The caller, who claimed affiliation with the notorious Rohit Godara criminal syndicate, explicitly threatened to ruin his entire musical journey and shut down all his live stage performances if the extortion amount was not paid immediately. This alarming development has sent shockwaves through the regional entertainment fraternity.
How the Threatening Messages Started
Kamal Grewal operates his independent music production enterprise titled 'JP Films' located in Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana. On October 20, multiple missed calls and threatening voice messages flooded the official mobile number of his company. At the exact time these intimidating messages were transmitted, the singer was busy performing live at a Dussehra festival event in Patiala, which prevented him from checking his phone immediately. When he finally listened to the voice notes the next day, the caller identified himself as Gigli Rana and asserted direct connections to the Rohit Godara gang, demanding five crore rupees and ordering an immediate call back.
Warnings to Destroy His Career and Stage Shows
Escalating the intimidation, the extortionist warned that failure to meet the financial demand would result in a complete blockade of all his upcoming stage shows and the total destruction of his singing career. The caller added menacingly that he would ensure the artist could never organize a live concert or release any new music tracks ever again. Following these initial voice notes, two additional threatening audio messages arrived from the exact same telephone number, pushing the artist into deep distress.
Subsequent International Calls and Police Action
The ordeal intensified further on November 1, when Kamal Grewal was present at his Sarabha Nagar office and received two more threatening phone calls originating from an international number. After noticing these missed calls the following afternoon, he held detailed consultations with his family members and close associates before deciding to approach law enforcement authorities. According to news agency ANI, acting on the formal complaint lodged by the singer, the Ludhiana police registered an official case on November 2 against Gigli Rana and other syndicate associates. Local law enforcement authorities are currently conducting an extensive investigation into the entire matter from all possible angles to nab the culprits.
