A disturbing case of severe food adulteration has come to light in Greater Noida following a comprehensive laboratory evaluation. A recent report issued by Genomics Biolab revealed that a cottage cheese sample collected from Manoj Paneer Shop failed critical safety parameters and contained hazardous substances. According to the laboratory findings, the sample tested positive for formalin, a toxic chemical substance primarily utilized in hospital morgues to preserve deceased human bodies and prevent decomposition. The revelation that a morgue preservative was blended into a widely consumed dairy product has triggered widespread health concerns among local residents.
The Morgue Preservative Used for Shelf Life Extension
Cottage cheese, commonly known as paneer, is a staple protein source in many households. However, unethical commercial practices have compromised its safety. Formalin is a chemical solution derived from formaldehyde gas and water, universally reserved for forensic laboratories, medical research, and mortuaries to preserve biological tissues. Adulterators reportedly inject or soak cottage cheese in formalin to maintain an artificial white appearance, retain firmness, and prevent spoilage over extended periods. Consuming food contaminated with this industrial chemical introduces a slow-acting toxin directly into the human digestive system.
Three Crucial Quality Tests Failed in Lab Testing
The detailed analytical report from Genomics Biolab confirmed that the sample violated multiple food safety standards beyond the inclusion of formalin. The cottage cheese failed three core diagnostic tests conducted by the laboratory. Testing verified the presence of synthetic milk, artificial coloring agents known as Azo Dyes, and low-grade adulterated fats or vanaspati. These synthetic compounds and synthetic colorants were used to mimic the texture, fat content, and visual appeal of authentic cottage cheese, rendering the product completely unfit for human consumption.
Severe Health Consequences Including Organ Failure
Medical experts warn that consuming cottage cheese adulterated with formalin and toxic dyes poses severe, irreversible risks to human health. Ingestion of formalin can cause acute gastrointestinal damage, severe stomach ulcers, liver inflammation, and kidney failure. Furthermore, formaldehyde compounds are recognized carcinogens, meaning prolonged exposure significantly elevates the risk of developing cancer. Vulnerable demographics, including children and elderly individuals, face even heightened risks when exposed to such toxic chemical adulterants.
Batch Designated as Critically Rejected with Immediate Supply Ban Urged
In response to the extreme toxicity identified during testing, Genomics Biolab officially designated the affected cottage cheese batch status as Critically Rejected. The laboratory issued immediate instructions recommending a complete halt to the distribution, sale, and supply of this specific batch. Additionally, recommendations have been made to local regulatory authorities to inspect Manoj Paneer Shop, investigate the supply chain origin, and seize existing stock from the market to safeguard public health.
