Dr Shrey Shrivastava from Ranchi, Jharkhand, has created a portable diagnostic machine capable of delivering 75 medical test reports in just 15 minutes. Operating on a single drop of blood, the innovation directly addresses the prohibitive costs and severe delays associated with conventional rural diagnostic facilities. By bringing down testing expenses to start from just ₹25, the system aims to make routine and critical pathology screening accessible to economically vulnerable populations.
Bridging the Diagnostic Divide in Rural Areas
Traditional diagnostic procedures often require patients to wait up to 24 hours for pathology reports, a delay frequently compounded by inconsistent testing accuracy in remote locations. Economic hardships also lead many individuals in rural areas to bypass essential medical tests altogether. To resolve these challenges, Dr Shrey Shrivastava designed this compact unit so it can be easily transported and installed in remote villages. The device holds full certification and approval from the Central Government. It was also showcased at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, where Jharkhand Health Minister Irfan Ansari reviewed the technology and commended the initiative.
AI-Driven Verification with Minimal Blood Volume
Standard diagnostic workflows generally draw 2 to 3 cc of blood for routine evaluations. In contrast, this newly developed device requires only a single drop of blood to execute comprehensive evaluations. Integrated artificial intelligence mechanisms process and verify all findings within 10 minutes. Crucial baseline indicators such as blood sugar and hemoglobin levels are analyzed in just 30 to 40 seconds. Simultaneously, a complete blood count along with liver function tests, kidney function tests, lung function tests, and screenings for serious conditions like dengue, typhoid, and various allergies are finalized within 10 to 15 minutes.
Integrated Digital Teleconsultation and OTP Reporting
The device incorporates a streamlined patient verification and reporting workflow. Health workers input essential details, including the patient's name and body weight, which prompts an OTP to be sent directly to the patient's registered mobile number. Entering this authentication code instantly generates the verified diagnostic report. Furthermore, if any test reveals abnormalities, such as elevated blood glucose levels, the platform connects the patient with a medical doctor for a consultation within 10 minutes. A digital prescription is immediately delivered to the patient's smartphone, allowing them to download the document and purchase prescribed medications locally.
