A brutal family dispute in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh has culminated in a shocking murder, exposing the dark side of a domestic feud. Located in Samletu village under the Jhandutta tehsil, a violent confrontation between siblings resulted in the death of a man at the hands of his own elder brother and sister-in-law. Following the fatal attack, the accused went to great lengths to destroy evidence by throwing the body into a nearby water body, only for it to be discovered four days later after a missing person report triggered a thorough police investigation.
Fatal Assault Triggered by Domestic Confrontation
According to investigative details, the bloody altercation took place on the night of September 11. For reasons that remain under scrutiny, a heated argument erupted between Madan Lal and his elder brother Bishan Das, along with the latter's wife, Rano Devi. The situation quickly spiralled out of control into a physical brawl. During this violent clash, the accused couple struck Madan Lal on the head with a heavy stone, rendering him unconscious instantly from the severe blow. Eyewitnesses to the harrowing incident later came forward to recount the sequence of events to law enforcement.
Disposal of Evidence and the Missing Person Complaint
In a desperate attempt to cover up their crime, the perpetrators dragged the lifeless body of Madan Lal to a location known as Changru and hurled it into a lake. Meanwhile, unaware of the grim reality, the victim's other brother, Roshan Lal, approached the Jhandutta police station to register a missing person complaint for Madan Lal. The breakthrough in the case came on September 15, four days after the incident, when Roshan Lal provided crucial information to the police regarding the violent altercation that had occurred on the night of September 11.
Arrests, Forensics, and Official Confirmation
Acting swiftly on the disclosures, the police apprehended the accused couple, Bishan Das (45) and Rano Devi (38). During interrogation, both individuals confessed to the crime. Authorities have invoked Section 103 and Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the accused. On Wednesday, a forensic team visited the crime scene to collect vital evidence. With the assistance of expert divers, the police successfully retrieved Madan Lal's body from the lake. Bilaspur SP Abhishek Dhimaan confirmed the incident during a media interaction, and further legal proceedings are currently underway.
