A severe road accident struck the Rampur area of Shimla district on Thursday morning when a state transport bus operated by the Himachal Road Transport Corporation, or HRTC, veered off the road and plunged into a steep ravine. The vehicle was operating on the route from Sanei toward Rampur when the incident occurred at approximately 7:45 AM. Around 20 commuters were traveling aboard the vehicle at the time of the fall, resulting in the immediate death of one young man and injuries to several others.
Local Residents Lead Immediate Rescue Efforts
Immediately following the crash, nearby villagers and commuters rushed toward the scene to launch rescue operations from the difficult slope. Demonstrating prompt community action before emergency ambulances reached the location, residents utilized their own private vehicles to shift the injured to the Mahatma Gandhi Medical Services Complex situated in Khaneri, Rampur. The medical facility placed its emergency response teams on high alert, allowing attending physicians to administer urgent clinical care the moment victims reached the premises.
Casualty Identified as Karali Native While Two Remain Critical
The Shimla District Disaster Management Authority confirmed that a total of 20 passengers were on board the transport vehicle when the accident happened. Officials identified the deceased victim as Vansh Negi, son of Suranjan, a resident of Karali village, who succumbed to fatal trauma on the spot immediately after the crash. Among the passengers admitted to the Khaneri medical facility, two individuals sustained particularly severe injuries and remain under critical treatment.
