The Drug Control Administration of Himachal Pradesh has ordered a halt to manufacturing operations at a pharmaceutical facility located in Kala Amb within the Sirmaur district. This strict enforcement action followed a joint inspection conducted by a team comprising both central and state regulatory officials, who uncovered significant shortcomings in compliance at the plant.
Zero Tolerance Policy on Regulatory Breaches
Health Secretary Ashish Singhmar stated on Wednesday that the state government maintains a strict zero-tolerance approach toward violations of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and its associated rules. Officials reiterated that the administration is committed to enforcing stringent quality standards across all manufacturing units operating within the region.
Prioritizing Public Health and Patient Safety
During the surprise assessment, authorities identified critical deficiencies in adherence to standard manufacturing protocols at the facility operated by M/s Wellcure Remedies. Although the company sought additional time to rectify the documented gaps, regulatory bodies decided to prioritize patient safety above all other considerations.
Resumption Contingent on Verification
The manufacturing ban will remain in effect until the enterprise implements satisfactory corrective measures and successfully completes a joint re-verification process by the regulatory authorities. Officials emphasized that similar uncompromising legal actions will continue against any entities found compromising the availability of safe and high-quality medicines.
