The mysterious disappearance of five-year-old Arya from Devna village under the Lana Cheta panchayat in Sangrah of Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh, remains unresolved even after five days. The National Disaster Response Force team, which was actively engaged in the rescue and search operations, called off the search late Wednesday evening after failing to find any leads. The lack of any breakthroughs despite four consecutive days of extensive searches has deeply distressed the family members and local villagers.
Extensive searches across a fifteen kilometer radius
Search and rescue teams combed a wide radius of approximately fourteen to fifteen kilometers around Devna village. The personnel thoroughly checked various ravines, drains, and other potential spots across the terrain. Given the urgency of the situation, the search was extended all the way to the Giri River. Divers and search parties scoured the riverbanks and surrounding areas intensively, but no concrete clue regarding the missing child was found anywhere.
Administration and police investigation underway
Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Verma stated that the NDRF team made comprehensive efforts to locate the child at every possible location. However, the search yielded no success and no crucial clues were discovered during the operation. She added that the local police are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter to trace the whereabouts of the child as soon as possible.
Went missing while playing in the courtyard
The incident dates back to last Sunday when the young girl was playing in the courtyard of her house and suddenly went missing around four in the evening. Her shoes were later recovered near the edge of a drain. NDRF Inspector Nafis Khan stated that the team conducted search operations up to fourteen to fifteen kilometers away from the village, covering ravines and the Giri River, but found no trace of the child, leading to the suspension of the search operation. It has not yet been conclusively established whether the child was washed away.
