A horrifying road accident in the Seraj region of Mandi district saw a Bolero camper plunge into a deep gorge, measuring approximately 500 meters. While the vehicle was completely wrecked in the fall, a six-year-old boy named Arun Kumar managed to survive the ordeal in what is being described as a miraculous escape. The accident occurred near Shural, located in the Mangarh area of the Bahal Sainj panchayat, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Chhatri sub-tehsil. All the occupants of the ill-fated vehicle were residents of Khunachhi village.
Details of the Passengers and the Journey
The occupants of the Bolero camper were traveling from Sudas toward Joganidhar at the time of the incident. The vehicle was being driven by 30-year-old Jay Kumar, who is the son of Dhani Ram. Along with him in the vehicle were his young son, six-year-old Arun Kumar, and 37-year-old Satish Kumar, the son of Kaul Ram. During the violent plunge, the young child Arun was thrown out of the vehicle, which ultimately saved his life. On the other hand, Satish Kumar sustained severe injuries in the crash.
Rescue Operations and Police Investigation
The Bolero camper had been purchased newly by Satish Kumar only about a month prior to the incident. Following the plunge, local residents rushed to the spot to initiate immediate relief and rescue efforts. They managed to pull out the critically injured Satish Kumar and transported him to the Civil Hospital in Janjehli. After receiving preliminary medical attention there, doctors referred him to the Nerchowk Medical College for specialized treatment due to his highly critical state. Karsog DSP Chand Kishore confirmed the occurrence of this accident, stating that the police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause behind the vehicle going out of control.
