A grim crime has surfaced in the industrial hub of Baddi within Himachal Pradesh's Solan district, where a missing young man was killed and his body was thrown into a pond to conceal the act. The incident took place in the Chanalmajra belt, falling under the jurisdiction of the Manpura police station. Following the recovery of the remains bearing severe injury marks, investigators launched a multi-state pursuit that led to the capture of four suspects in Maharashtra, where they had fled following the incident.
Missing Report Sparks Investigation
The sequence of events came to light on September 30 when Umesh Kumar, a native of Bihar residing in Chanalmajra, approached the local police station to report his brother missing. According to the complaint, his brother Mukesh Kumar had stepped out during the evening of September 28 along with a few acquaintances. However, Mukesh failed to return home that night, and all attempts by the family to trace him proved unsuccessful. Acting on the formal complaint, law enforcement officials registered a case and initiated a search operation across the vicinity.
Body Recovered from Local Pond with Injury Marks
During the ongoing search in Chanalmajra, search parties discovered a body floating inside a small neighborhood pond. Upon retrieval, the deceased was identified as Mukesh Kumar. A preliminary inspection of the body revealed clear marks of physical assault and trauma, prompting officers to immediately alter the case files to include murder charges. Recognizing the complexity of the situation, senior officials formed a dedicated police team to identify the perpetrators and track their movements.
Arrests Executed in Jalgaon with Local Police Support
Investigating officers traced leads from the Manpura area that pointed toward the suspects fleeing across state lines to western India. Coordinating closely with Maharashtra police personnel, the team from Baddi staged a raid within the Shanipeth police station limits in Jalgaon. Four men were taken into custody during the operation: 19-year-old Ajit Kumar, 21-year-old Gogal Mukhiya alias Roshan, 22-year-old Chandan Kumar, and 24-year-old Santosh Kumar. Official records indicate that all four accused belong to different villages across Bihar.
Four-Day Police Remand Granted in Nalagarh Court
Following the arrests, the police produced the four suspects before a competent court in Jalgaon to secure transit remand for their transfer back to Himachal Pradesh. Upon arrival, the individuals were presented before the court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate in Nalagarh, which remanded them to police custody for four days. DSP Baddi Yograj Chandel is actively monitoring the trajectory of the inquiry and has instructed officers to conduct a thorough and impartial review of all available evidence. Investigators are utilizing the interrogation period to determine the specific motive behind the killing, each suspect's precise role, and the recovery of crucial case property.
