A violent clash broke out inside a hotel located in Nagwain within Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district on Sunday morning, leaving a young operator severely wounded after being struck with iron rods. The attackers attempted to flee toward Kullu in a getaway vehicle immediately after the incident, but alert law enforcement personnel set up a strategic blockade near Aut and apprehended seven individuals. The detained suspects are all residents of Haryana. A formal first information report containing charges of attempted murder and associated penal sections has been filed at the Aut police station.
Phone Alert Triggers Rapid Police Checkpoint and Arrests
The sequence of events began around 9:15 am on Sunday when a local resident from Nagwain telephoned the Aut police station to report that an intense brawl involving multiple people had erupted at a hotel. A police patrol rushed toward the venue upon receiving the alert. Spotting the approaching police personnel, the aggressors jumped into a vehicle and sped off along the highway heading toward Kullu. Law enforcement units coordinated quickly to block their escape route, intercepting the vehicle at a checkpoint positioned near Aut and taking all seven occupants into custody.
Victim Transferred to AIIMS Bilaspur in Critical Condition
The principal victim of the assault was identified as Ravi, son of Ajmer, hailing from the village and post office of Nindana in Rohtak tehsil, Haryana. Ravi operates the Nagwain hotel facility on a lease agreement. Following the assault, local responders transported Ravi and other injured individuals to the primary health centre in Nagwain. Due to the critical nature of his wounds, attending doctors referred him to Zonal Hospital Kullu, where medical staff evaluated his state and directed his immediate transfer to AIIMS Bilaspur for advanced interventions. Another injured person was also provided necessary medical attention.
Weapons Seized as All Seven Suspects Traced to Rohtak District
All seven captured suspects belong to Rohtak district in Haryana. The detained men comprise Anit from Ward Number 6 in Meham, Pradeep from Nindana, Manjeet from Ward Number 10 in Meham, Jagdeep from Kheri Meham, Ankit from Bahni Chandrapal Meham, Monit from Kheri Meham, and Ajay from Kheri Meham. Officers recovered the weapons utilized during the assault during subsequent search procedures. Preliminary inquiries indicate that the brutal altercation likely stemmed from past enmity between the involved groups.
Investigators Scrutinize Security Footage Ahead of Court Appearance
Detectives are currently reconstructing the confrontation to establish the underlying dispute that triggered the physical violence. Statements are being collected from witnesses present inside the premises during the altercation, alongside a detailed review of closed-circuit surveillance camera footage recorded at the venue. Authorities are also scrutinizing the background of the arrested men for prior criminal offenses. SP Vinod Kumar stated that all seven suspects will be presented before the court on Monday, with subsequent legal measures guided by evidence gathered during the ongoing investigation.
