Benny Blanco is crossing the Atlantic Ocean by ship instead of getting on a flight, just so he can reach his wife, Selena Gomez, who is currently in London. The music producer and songwriter is known for being afraid of flying, and rather than skip seeing her, he chose to make the trip by sea.
A boat instead of a plane
Blanco shared a video on social media that showed him aboard a ship out in the middle of the ocean. Text on the screen read, "POV: ur traveling across the atlantic in the titanic to see ur wife bc ur scared of flying." He captioned the clip with a line about what love makes people do, and played Sam Cooke's "Nothing Can Change This Love" over the footage.
Gomez has been filming in London since May
Gomez has been in London since May while working on Hulu's "Only Murders in the Building." She has kept followers updated from the set on Instagram, including a post about her "first week in London." The two have spoken openly about the distance during her time in the UK. On June 10, Gomez posted several photos with Blanco on Instagram and wrote, "distance means so little when someone means so much," tagging him directly and adding an affectionate note in the same post.
Not his first transatlantic boat trip
This is not the first time Blanco has taken to the sea instead of the sky to reach Europe. During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in April 2024, he spoke about the same habit while recalling a trip he took with Ed Sheeran, the Grammy-winning singer, during work on his album, Divide. He explained that he does not fly, and described sailing across on what he called practically the same crossing the Titanic once made, adding that by the third day at sea, people on board would point out that they were passing the spot where the Titanic sank, leaving him feeling like he was in the middle of nowhere. He also recalled a lighter moment from the same trip, saying that he and Sheeran ended up watching the film Titanic together in bed on the fourth night of the voyage.
Marriage and a new album on the way
Blanco and Gomez got married on September 27, 2025. Along with his current sea voyage, Blanco is preparing for the release of his new album, Hermoso, due out on August 14. He recently released the album's latest single, "Joven y Salvaje," a collaboration with Bb trickz.
