A bone-chilling incident in the Myana police station area of Guna has left the local administration and the public in shock due to a massive lapse in police procedure. Three decomposed bodies were discovered in an abandoned house near a Hanuman temple, leading to a major mix-up that caused immense distress to the families involved.
The Wrong Cremation
On Sunday, the police recovered the body of an elderly man from the house and identified him as 60-year-old Omprakash Sharma. The police handed the remains over to the relatives, who, believing it to be their father, performed the final rites. The truth, however, surfaced on Monday when the police and a forensic team returned to the site for further investigation.
Discovery of the Real Victims
On Monday morning, investigators noticed a foul smell coming from an adjacent room. Upon breaking the lock, they discovered the badly mutilated bodies of a woman and another man. The woman was identified as Gindabai Jatav. When the police examined the other male body, the son of Omprakash Sharma identified his father through a silver chain and his innerwear. It was then revealed that the person cremated on Sunday was actually Ramkishan. Following this revelation, Ramkishan's family protested at the district hospital's post-mortem house, demanding their father's body back.
Motive Behind the Triple Murder
Guna SP Hitika Vashal stated that the police solved the triple homicide within six to seven hours. The deceased woman's biological son, Sitaram, and his cousin, Surendra, have been arrested, while another suspect remains at large. The primary motive behind the crime was the illicit relationships of the deceased, Gindabai, which had caused significant social stigma for her son. The victims were strangled to death on the 18th following a dispute while drinking. The police are currently interrogating the accused.
