A severe domestic altercation escalated into an armed assault within the RIT police station limits of Jharkhand's Seraikela district, resulting in critical bullet injuries to a medical practitioner. The victim has been identified as Doctor OP Anand. According to preliminary findings, an intense argument erupted between the family members inside the house, following which his elder brother, Satya Prakash Sudhanshu, allegedly drew a firearm and discharged three rounds. One of the fired bullets struck Doctor OP Anand directly, leaving him critically injured on the spot.
Suspect Fled After Transporting Sibling to Hospital
Upon witnessing his younger brother in agony after the shooting, Satya Prakash Sudhanshu personally transported Doctor OP Anand to Tata Main Hospital (TMH) in Jamshedpur for emergency trauma care. However, immediately after securing the victim's admission into the hospital, the accused fled the premises to evade law enforcement. Acting promptly on the incident report, police launched a search operation and successfully arrested Satya Prakash Sudhanshu. Investigators are currently verifying whether the weapon deployed in the attack was an authorized licensed firearm or an illicit weapon.
Suspected Property Dispute Under Police Scrutiny
Initial inquiries suggest that brewing tensions regarding family property might have triggered the violent outburst between the two brothers. Even so, law enforcement authorities have emphasized that the definitive trigger behind the gunfire will only be established after a thorough interrogation and forensic investigation. Police teams are presently evaluating all facets of the crime scene, past familial frictions, and relevant material evidence to reconstruct the sequence of events.
Past Controversies and Political Background of the Victim
Doctor OP Anand has previously been in the public spotlight due to notable administrative controversies and political engagements. During the global pandemic phase, he had become embroiled in a high-profile dispute involving Jharkhand's former health minister Banna Gupta, a confrontation that ultimately led to his imprisonment. Beyond his medical practice, he had also contested an assembly election. At present, Doctor OP Anand remains under intensive medical supervision at TMH hospital in Jamshedpur, while police continue interrogating the detained elder brother to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the attack.
