A massive financial fraud has surfaced in Jharkhand's Garhwa district, where a fake lending entity targeted hundreds of unsuspecting residents under the guise of providing loans. The fraudulent operation lured individuals by promising them easy loans amounting to 60 thousand rupees. After collecting between 5 to 6 thousand rupees from each applicant under the pretext of processing fees and other formalities, the company representatives abruptly shut down their offices and vanished.
Fraud spreads across four blocks
The reach of this elaborate scam extends across four blocks within the district, specifically including Bhawanathpur, Nagar Untari, Kharondhi, and Khetar. According to local villagers, the company agents had assured them of receiving credit through simplified terms. Money was collected upfront from the applicants, and once a substantial sum was gathered from the large crowd, the perpetrators fled the scene. As news of the deception spread, panic gripped the region, prompting victims to approach local law enforcement seeking strict action and the recovery of their hard-earned money.
First information reports and ongoing probe
Authorities at the Bhawanathpur police station have registered two separate first information reports regarding the incident. Law enforcement is currently investigating the entire network, gathering details about the individuals connected to the firm and tracking the monetary transactions. A victim named Amit stated that he was also given assurances of a loan and was charged money for it, after which the company operators became entirely unreachable.
Garhwa Sub-Divisional Magistrate Prabhakar Mirgha noted that the entity operating under the name Ujjwal Capital Private Limited targeted impoverished and naive citizens. He added that the district administration and the Deputy Commissioner have been briefed on the matter. With official complaints now registered, investigations are actively underway. The official urged citizens to remain cautious of such operations, advising everyone to thoroughly verify the credentials of any financial institution before placing their trust in them. Authorities emphasized the need to stay away from individuals who claim to disburse large loans through shortcuts or unrealistic promises. The exact total amount defrauded and the final count of victims will be determined once the ongoing police inquiry is complete.
