The monsoon is expected to remain fully active across Jharkhand this Wednesday. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), most districts in the state are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall throughout the day. Several regions are anticipated to experience thunderstorms, accompanied by gusty winds and potential lightning strikes. In specific areas, wind speeds may reach between 40 and 60 km per hour. Given these conditions, authorities have advised residents to strictly follow weather safety protocols and avoid staying in open areas during inclement weather. Heavy rainfall is predicted for 15 districts, including Ranchi, Khunti, and Ramgarh. Conversely, districts like Godda, Dumka, and Sahibganj are expected to remain relatively hot, with maximum temperatures likely peaking between 32 and 33 degrees Celsius.
Districts Forecasted for Rainfall
The districts anticipated to receive light to moderate rainfall today include Ranchi, Khunti, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Lohardaga, Gumla, Simdega, Latehar, East Singhbhum (Jamshedpur), West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Deoghar, Dumka, Jamtara, Godda, and Pakur. Furthermore, regions such as Palamu, Garhwa, and Chatra will likely witness overcast skies with localized showers. Heavy rainfall is also a possibility in some of these districts.
Warning for Lightning and Storms
The Ranchi Meteorological Center has issued a specific alert for lightning strikes in Ranchi, Khunti, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Latehar, Palamu, Garhwa, Deoghar, Dumka, East Singhbhum, and their surrounding areas. These regions face a higher risk of strong winds and lightning. Farmers and individuals working in open fields are urged to exercise extreme caution during these hours.
Temperature and Weather Outlook
The weather in Ranchi, Khunti, Gumla, Lohardaga, Ramgarh, Latehar, and West Singhbhum is expected to remain pleasant due to persistent cloud cover and rain, providing some respite from the humidity. Despite this, high moisture levels throughout the state may still lead to a lingering sense of sultriness. In the last 24 hours, the DVC area in Ramgarh recorded the highest rainfall at 96.3 mm. While the rest of the state enjoys cooler conditions, Pakur is projected to see a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius. Today's temperature projections are as follows: Ranchi will range from 24°C to 28°C; Jamshedpur 27°C to 33°C; Dhanbad 26°C to 32°C; Bokaro 25°C to 33°C; Deoghar 26°C to 32°C; Dumka 27°C to 33°C; Palamu and Garhwa 26°C to 32°C; and Pakur 28°C to 34°C.
Safety Advisory for Residents
In light of the thunderstorm and lightning threat, the meteorological department has requested the public to refrain from standing under trees, near electricity poles, or in open fields during bad weather. Farmers working in fields should monitor weather updates closely. While the rainfall will bring relief to most districts, maintaining vigilance against lightning and strong winds remains essential for public safety.
