Father files formal complaint at police station
Indu Bhagat, a resident of Jortand village under the Ghaghra police station area of Gumla district, has submitted a written application to the Pithoria police station. In his complaint, he alleged that his daughter was subjected to continuous mental and social harassment. The father has urged law enforcement to conduct an impartial investigation and ensure strict legal action against all individuals responsible for driving her to this extreme step. Furthermore, the family has strongly demanded that the entire case be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation for a transparent probe.
Heartbreaking reaction from the grieving mother
The loss of their only daughter has devastated the family, with the mother expressing profound grief. Choked with emotion, she stated that they never imagined their daughter would take such a drastic step. The mother asserted that a sinister conspiracy must be behind the tragedy. Expressing her sorrow during the festive season, she tearfully remarked that their family's Laxmi had departed right before the Laxmi Puja celebrations.
Government assures high-level probe and strict action
Weighing in on the sensitive matter, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha spokesperson and legislator Vikas Munda stated that the administration is fully prepared to conduct a high-level inquiry into the incident. He described the loss of a tribal daughter as deeply unfortunate and conveyed that the government stands in solidarity with the bereaved family. Vikas Munda emphasized that this is not a moment for political maneuvering but for standing firmly with the victims. He assured that anyone whose name surfaces during the investigation will be scrutinized, and strict action will be taken against those found culpable.
Crucial disclosures during final social media live session
Just prior to the tragic event on Friday afternoon, Nisha Bhagat initiated a live broadcast on Facebook during which she raised several grave concerns. She held Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the police administration, and certain other individuals accountable for the distress she was experiencing. Notably, Nisha Bhagat was an active voice on various social issues, regularly taking up causes related to the Sarna faith, tribal rights, religious conversions, and land disputes. Her public footprint also included contesting the 2024 assembly elections from the Gumla constituency on a JLKM ticket.
Police intervention and final rites arrangements
During her social media broadcast, she had reportedly contacted the Pithoria police station in-charge over the phone to state her intention of ending her life. Acting swiftly on the alert, police personnel rushed to the scene and managed to bring her down from the hanging position. However, examining physicians pronounced her dead at the spot. The body was subsequently transported to Rims for an autopsy examination. Reports indicate that the final rites of Nisha Bhagat will be conducted in Gumla.
