If you're planning to travel by train from Jamtara or nearby areas on September 5, there's an important change you need to know about, since the railways have made a major revision to train operations on this route today.
Why the traffic block was necessary
According to railway officials, track repair and maintenance work is scheduled on the down line between Keeta and Silli stations. To carry out this work, a three-hour PQRS traffic block is being taken on September 5. Such blocks are usually needed to inspect and strengthen the track so that train movement remains safe going forward. But during this window, several passenger and MEMU trains running on this route will see their services affected.
These trains will run a shorter route
Due to the traffic block, a few trains will be terminated before reaching their scheduled destination. The Bardhaman-Hatia MEMU will not run all the way to Hatia on September 5, it will instead be terminated at Gomoh station. Similarly, the Asansol-Ranchi MEMU will not reach its final destination of Ranchi either, it will be operated only up to Muri Junction. This means passengers on both these trains will need to disembark before their actual destination.
Train services fully suspended on these stretches
Because these trains are being partially cancelled, services will be completely shut on some stretches. No trains will run in either direction between Gomoh and Hatia. Similarly, train operations between Muri and Ranchi will also remain fully suspended in both directions. Commuters who travel daily on these stretches, especially those heading to work or college, may need to arrange alternative transport for the day.
Railway's advisory to passengers
The railway has issued a special appeal for the convenience of passengers and to help them avoid inconvenience. It has asked passengers to check their train's live running status and the revised timetable before leaving home. Doing so will help them avoid unnecessary trouble and wasted time after reaching the station. Passengers who regularly travel on the Gomoh-Hatia or Muri-Ranchi routes, in particular, will need to plan their journey accordingly in advance so they aren't caught off guard on September 5.
