The body of Chhattisgarh's celebrated Pandwani artiste Teejan Bai has now been brought to her native village of Ganiyari. As soon as it arrived, large crowds gathered and lined up to take one last look at their beloved artiste. Emotional admirers are bidding her a tearful farewell. Her last rites are expected to be performed in the village itself around 3 pm today.
BJP's District Workers' Conference in Bhopal Marks 125th Birth Anniversary
A big conference of district-level BJP workers is being held today at the party's state headquarters in Bhopal. The party's national co-organisation general secretary will be specially present at the event. Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, along with the state party president, will address the workers on this occasion. The event is being organised as part of a fortnight-long commemoration being observed to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, under which the BJP is holding several programmes across the state.
Jitu Patwari Cycles to Sehore's Siddhivinayak Temple
Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president Jitu Patwari cycled to the ancient Shri Siddhivinayak Ganesh temple in Sehore today. He sat in the sanctum sanctorum and offered prayers to Lord Ganesh with full rituals, and also went around the temple in a parikrama. Speaking to the media after the prayers, he said he had come to seek Vighnaharta's blessings for the success of the yatra scheduled to begin on 14 and 15 July. According to him, the yatra is being taken out to carry Rahul Gandhi's thinking to ordinary people, under which a demand will be raised that children get free and equal education from KG to PG. Patwari also said the Congress has been consistently vocal about the state chief minister's silence over the donation theft linked to the Ram Temple and the land scam in Madhya Pradesh, and that both issues will be taken to the public through this yatra. On his way back, he stopped at Bada Bazar and tasted the famous kachori of Chunni Master.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar Visits Mamleshwar With Wife
India's Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, on a two-day tour of Madhya Pradesh, reached Omkareshwar on Sunday and offered prayers at the Jyotirlinga Mamleshwar Mahadev temple. His wife Anuradha was present with him on the occasion. The temple management arranged a formal jalabhishek and puja for the couple, along with a mahaarti for Baba Mamleshwar. After the darshan, Gyanesh Kumar said that he and his wife Anuradha were fortunate to have the darshan of Mahadev today. Young Man Drowns in River Amid Heavy Rain in Dewas, Search Continues
Monsoon rain has created trouble in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas district. Heavy downpour in the Satwas area has caused nearby rivers and streams to swell. Amid this, an accident occurred in Bhamar village under Satwas police station limits, where a 22 year old man drowned in a hill river. The young man is named Sandeep, and his father's name is Shankar Thakur. Sandeep had left home around 9 am on Saturday saying he was going to relieve himself, but he never returned. Villagers suspect he may have gone into the water to retrieve teak wood that had washed into the river because of the rain, and that is when the accident happened. Satwas police and the Dewas SDRF team carried out a search operation throughout the day on Saturday but found no success. Sandeep was married and has an 8 month old daughter. On Sunday morning, police and the SDRF team resumed the search operation once again.
Chhattisgarh's Chintan Shivir Begins Day Two With Yoga
The Chhattisgarh government's two-day chintan shivir entered its second day today, beginning with a yoga session. Madhya Pradesh Issues Appointment Orders to 5017 Teachers

Teacher Suspended in Mungeli for Coming to School Drunk
A teacher at Sonpuri primary school in the Pathariya area of Mungeli district has been suspended on charges of coming to school drunk. The accused teacher has been identified as Mahajan Ram Jatwar. Villagers had repeatedly complained that the teacher often arrived at school intoxicated. A video of him coming to school drunk also surfaced and quickly went viral on social media. As the matter escalated, villagers themselves called officials to the spot and got the teacher's medical examination done. After the examination confirmed intoxication, the education department took action and suspended him.
Chhattisgarh Gets Extra 46500 Tonnes of DAP Fertiliser From Centre
The central government has decided to give Chhattisgarh an additional 46500 metric tonnes of DAP fertiliser.
