A harrowing incident has emerged from Madhya Pradesh's Rajgarh district, where the body of a 17-year-old schoolgirl was recovered from a dense forest area after a six-day search operation. The teenager had left her residence on September 30 to attend school but failed to return home. Following concerns raised by her family members, law enforcement registered an abduction case at the Rajgarh Kotwali police station and initiated a coordinated search. The search ended inside the Shamsherpura forest area within Malawar police station limits, where officials discovered the girl's headless body.
Crucial Evidence Recovered from Crime Scene
Upon inspecting the secluded forest location, officers discovered that the victim's head had been severed from her torso. Alongside the body, investigators found a blood-stained knife and her school bag lying abandoned. These physical belongings and the suspected weapon were seized immediately to ensure preservation of forensic traces. Given the nature of the injuries and the deliberate decapitation, authorities noted that the incident points toward a brutal, premeditated murder intended to obscure identification and delay detection.
Family Suspicions and Alleged Romantic Link
Early inquiries revealed that the family had pointed suspicion toward a youth identified as Anurag, also known as Ankit, residing in Jamoniya Ganesh within the Narsinghgarh area. Background checks indicated that the teenager and Anurag were allegedly involved in a romantic relationship. Details gathered during the inquiry suggested that Anurag met the student in the Karedi sector of Rajgarh Kotwali before taking her away. Officials suspect the fatal attack was carried out shortly thereafter, though the underlying sequence of events remains under active scrutiny.
Suspect Dies in Road Crash During Probe
The investigation took a dramatic turn when Anurag, the primary individual under suspicion, died in a road collision near Pagari Bangla in the Malawar region. His unexpected death in the traffic accident has significantly complicated the timeline for investigators, who are now trying to determine whether the crash was accidental while evading law enforcement or directly linked to the aftermath of the killing. Simultaneously, another youth connected to the movement of the suspect has been brought in for detailed questioning to fill gaps in the sequence.
Surveillance Footage and Location Data Lead to Body
Detectives achieved a major breakthrough after examining security footage outside a bank in the Malawar jurisdiction. The video showed one young man riding a motorcycle alone, followed by a second motorcycle carrying the student alongside another individual. Subsequent cameras positioned along the route captured all three traveling toward the same destination. Crucially, the return footage recorded only the two young men traveling back, without the teenage girl. By triangulating these visual clues with mobile cellular tower locations, search teams narrowed down the coordinates to the Shamsherpura woodlands, ultimately leading to the discovery.
Forensic Examination and Ongoing Inquiries
Rajgarh Kotwali police station in-charge Manju Makheniya indicated that the preliminary findings clearly suggest murder. Fingerprint specialists and forensic crime-scene examiners gathered samples from the site to establish conclusive linkages. The remains have been transported to Bhopal for an autopsy, where specialized medical evaluations are expected to shed light on the exact cause, timing, and circumstances of death. Investigators continue to piece together camera feeds, telecommunication data, and statements from the detained individual to resolve the case.
