A series of developmental initiatives were inaugurated on Wednesday at the Go-Vigyan Anusandhan Kendra in Deolapur, situated within Maharashtra's Nagpur district. Addressing the gathering, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat emphasized the imperative need to anchor modern life in India's civilizational heritage to ensure global security and societal stability. The event formed part of the ongoing birth centenary observances dedicated to the late Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) stalwart Ashok Singhal.
Aligning Daily Life with Cultural Values
Speaking on human fulfillment, the RSS chief stressed that every individual deserves a contented existence, which can only be achieved when people collectively contribute toward the common good. He urged citizens to actively model their daily conduct on India's time-tested traditions, explaining that cultural adherence is deeply tied to the broader well-being of the world.
Highlighting the necessity of traditional wisdom in addressing contemporary crises, Mohan Bhagwat pointed out that cultural preservation safeguards societal structures and faith. Emphasizing collective responsibility, he remarked, "Everyone's life should be satisfactory, and all of us must do something." In his view, living by cultural principles and achieving purposeful progress represents an indispensable path for human welfare.
Expanding Civic Participation and Voluntary Service
Expressing concern over the disproportion between the vast size of society and the limited number of individuals engaged in constructive public service, Bhagwat called for broader participation in social initiatives. He observed that people frequently acknowledge the need for community service yet assume that others will step forward to fulfill those duties.
Addressing the common tendency to cite professional demands and domestic obligations as reasons for inaction, the RSS chief noted that while people expect society to improve, they often leave the actual effort to others. True societal advancement, he pointed out, mirrors the collective commitment of the community. Those who demonstrate personal sacrifice and resilience invariably inspire others to undertake demanding endeavors for the greater good, reinforcing the principle that selfless giving brings profound societal respect.
Lessons from Moropant Pingle and Ashok Singhal
The RSS chief drew attention to the enduring legacy of the late Moropant Pingle and former VHP president Ashok Singhal, noting that both leaders devoted their entire lives to public causes without seeking personal benefit. Their unwavering dedication to public service earned them widespread respect across the nation.
Bhagwat concluded by stating that whenever worthy accomplishments take shape in the present, society inevitably remembers the pioneers who laid the initial groundwork in the past. Paying homage to such figures requires more than verbal remembrance; it demands translating their spirit of public service into practical action for community welfare.
