A severe incident of public outrage erupted in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, where a crowd brutally thrashed a man accused of rape on a public street. During the assault, women lashed out at him with slippers while men rained kicks and punches. Amid the intense altercation, the accused's clothes were torn off, leaving him half-naked on the road. A video capturing this chaotic scene has also surfaced, showing a massive crowd surrounding the individual and venting their anger publicly in the Raoji Bazar locality.
Attempt to abduct a woman in broad daylight
According to the details, the incident took place on Wednesday afternoon when a 28-year-old woman was walking down the street. At that moment, Aslam Khan, a resident of Champabag, arrived at the spot in a vehicle. The accused forcefully tried to make the woman sit inside his vehicle and take her along. He kept pressuring her by saying that she needed to talk to him and they would return after the conversation. When the victim resisted and raised an alarm, locals standing nearby and Bajrang Dal workers rushed to the spot and caught hold of Aslam.
Background of their relationship and fallout
Reports indicate that the woman and Aslam shared a friendship spanning six years. However, the woman's marriage was recently arranged elsewhere, following which she cut off all ties and distanced herself from Aslam. Enraged by this separation, the accused allegedly attempted to abduct her on the street. The moment she shouted for help, people gathered around and cornered him. The circulating video shows a mob of 50 to 60 people surrounding the accused from all sides, hurling abuses and beating him continuously.
Public thrashing and police intervention
Due to the relentless blows, slaps, and slippers from the crowd, the accused fell to the ground multiple times, only to be pulled back up and beaten further by angry locals. As a massive crowd blocked the road, the Dial 100 response team arrived at the scene and rescued the young man from the violent gathering. He was subsequently taken into custody and handed over to the Raoji Bazar police station, where a formal rape case was registered based on the 28-year-old woman's complaint.
Police action and judicial custody
Raoji Bazar TI Deep Singh stated that a dispute had been going on between the two individuals for some time, and Aslam had been harassing the victim. Acting on the woman's statement, a case of rape was registered on Wednesday evening, and the accused was placed under arrest. He was produced before a court on Thursday, which ordered him to be sent to jail.
