Commemoration of Fallen Personnel
In a separate solemn observance, the Assam Rifles paid official tribute to four brave personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty on September 9, 1963. A dedicated wreath-laying ceremony took place at the Modi Garrison situated in Chandel district, functioning under the aegis of the Inspector General Assam Rifles South Headquarters. The memorial honoured Havaldar Maniliana Lushai, Rifleman Damor Bahadur, Rifleman Satal Singh Rai, and Rifleman Mande Thapa, who fell while confronting insurgents near Zunheboto within the Sapotabhi area of Nagaland. Representatives noted that their unwavering courage and devotion remain deeply embedded within the foundational military traditions of the force.
