The Indian capital market is gearing up for another major investment opportunity as automotive technology and auto parts manufacturer Hero Motors Limited prepares to launch its initial public offering. Investors looking to participate in this upcoming issue can place their bids starting September 16, with the company establishing a price band of ₹79 to ₹84 per equity share. The public issue is scheduled to close on September 18, giving market participants a specific window to subscribe. According to the company timeline and market expectations, the official listing of the equity shares is anticipated to take place on September 23.
Structure of the ₹1000 Crore Public Offering
The total financial size of the Hero Motors public offering stands at ₹1000 crore. This issue is structured into two main components, comprising a fresh issue worth ₹600 crore and an offer for sale amounting to ₹400 crore. Through the offer for sale mechanism, existing shareholders of the company will divest a portion of their holdings. Specifically, OP Munjal Holdings will offload shares worth approximately ₹395 crore, while Hero Cycles will sell shares valued at around ₹5 crore. Consequently, a substantial portion of the overall public issue stems from the stake sale by current investors.
Allocation for Debt Repayment and Plant Expansion
The capital raised through the fresh issue will be deployed toward strengthening business operations and improving the financial standing of the enterprise. Out of the total proceeds, approximately ₹190 crore will be utilized for the repayment or prepayment of outstanding borrowings. In addition, roughly ₹200 crore will be spent on procuring essential equipment to enhance manufacturing capacity at the company plant located in Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. The remaining funds will be channeled toward potential strategic initiatives, acquisitions, and general corporate purposes.
Initial Plans for a Larger ₹1,200 Crore Issue
Hero Motors had previously submitted its draft red herring prospectus for the public offering in June 2025. During that initial phase, the enterprise planned to raise a total of ₹1,200 crore, which included a fresh issue of ₹800 crore alongside an offer for sale of ₹400 crore. Subsequently, the management decided to reduce the size of the fresh issue down to ₹600 crore. This adjustment brought the overall valuation of the public offering down to ₹1,000 crore, accompanied by structural modifications within the offer for sale component.
Serving Major Global Automotive Brands
Hero Motors specializes in manufacturing powertrain-related products and engineering technical solutions for vehicle manufacturers. The organization caters to several prominent original equipment manufacturer clients across the United States, Europe, India, and the ASEAN region. Its robust client portfolio features renowned global names such as BMW AG, Ducati Motor Holding, Enviolo International, Formula Motorsport, and Hummingbird EV, reflecting its strong market presence in the automotive supply chain.
Timeline for Stock Exchange Listing
The shares of Hero Motors are expected to make their debut on the stock exchanges on September 23. To manage the public offering efficiently, the organization appointed ICICI Securities, DAM Capital Advisors, and JM Financial as the book-running lead managers, while KFin Technologies acts as the registrar for the issue. This upcoming listing presents a fresh avenue for market participants interested in the automotive component sector.
