Reliance Industries, led by Mukesh Ambani, delivered an exceptional operating performance in the second quarter of FY27, recording a consolidated net profit of Rs 25,548 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. This represents a robust 41 percent year-on-year surge from the Rs 18,165 crore reported in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. Sequentially, the bottom line also maintained steady momentum, stepping up from the Rs 20,946 crore reported in the preceding June quarter. Including the share of profit and loss from associates and joint ventures, the company's profit after tax advanced 33.8 percent year-on-year to Rs 29,550 crore, equivalent to approximately $3.1 billion.
On the top-line front, the conglomerate set an all-time financial benchmark by recording consolidated quarterly revenue of Rs 3,62,268 crore. This marked an expansion of 29 percent compared to the same quarter last year, standing out as the largest single-quarter revenue ever posted by the group. The historic top-line delivery was driven largely by strong contributions from the oil-to-chemicals segment alongside sustained momentum from its telecom arm, Jio Platforms.
Oil-to-Chemicals Sector Powers Operating Profit Expansion
Consolidated earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation expanded by 23.9 percent year-on-year to reach Rs 62,409 crore, or roughly $6.5 billion. The oil-to-chemicals segment proved to be the anchor of operational outperformance during the quarter, benefiting from tight global fuel supplies, improved downstream petrochemical deltas, and resilient domestic consumption within India. The ability to optimise raw feedstock purchases, strategic placement of refined products, and seamless supply-chain coordination allowed the group to capture wider processing spreads.
Mukesh Ambani stated, "Our O2C business delivered a particularly strong performance this quarter, led by tight fuel markets, improved downstream petrochemical deltas and firm domestic demand." He further pointed out that despite persistent commodity volatility and geopolitical disruptions across global supply networks, the company's domestic market orientation, operational discipline, and integrated operating structure allowed it to weather external fluctuations successfully.
Jio Platforms Maiden Post-Listing Report and Market Forecasts
The quarterly announcement carried added significance as it marked the very first financial report from Jio Platforms following its high-profile public listing earlier in the week. Despite strong debut traction, secondary market trading saw the telecom entity's shares dip 1 percent on the BSE to Rs 1,410.35 apiece, pulling its total market capitalization just below the Rs 13 lakh crore threshold to Rs 12,98,335.21 crore, hovering near intraday lows.
Ahead of the official release, equity analysts at Kotak Institutional Equities had projected consolidated EBITDA growth of 15 percent year-on-year and 11.1 percent sequentially. The brokerage estimated a 47 percent year-on-year jump in O2C EBITDA, driven by tax exemptions on SEZ refinery margins, US ethane-based petrochemical cost efficiencies, and a weaker Indian rupee. Conversely, retail operations were anticipated to deliver relatively modest performance, with revenue climbing 11.7 percent amid softer margins leading to a 0.8 percent contraction in segment EBITDA, while the exploration and production division was forecast to drop 7.2 percent due to falling hydrocarbon output.
Capital Mobilisation Plan and Corporate Action Record
In accompanying regulatory disclosures, Reliance confirmed that its board of directors would evaluate and sanction capital raising through the issuance of listed, secured or unsecured, redeemable non-convertible debentures via private placement across one or more tranches. The filings contained no proposals regarding equity bonuses, stock splits, or interim dividend declarations for this cycle.
Shareholder reward history shows the conglomerate executed its last bonus share issuance in October 2024 at a 1:1 ratio around the Diwali festive window. Following that issuance, investors received two consecutive final dividend payouts: Rs 5.50 per share in April 2025 and Rs 6 per share in June 2026. Since May 2003, the corporation has issued 26 dividends and executed 1:1 bonus allotments on three separate occasions in 2009, 2017, and 2024. In trading leading up to the results release, the parent stock traded down 0.5 percent at Rs 1,162.50 apiece after touching an intraday low of Rs 1,157.35, lingering marginally above its 52-week low of Rs 1,152.30.
