A sudden upward spiral swept through the domestic bullion counter on March 10, lifting physical silver prices by Rs 10,000 per kilogram across prominent Indian cities. Over the previous sixty trading days, the white metal endured sharp swings that saw it scale historic peaks before suffering a severe slump. A rebound in overseas spot markets, where prices recovered recent losses to push back above the $88 per ounce threshold, provided immediate momentum to both futures contracts and physical retail counters nationwide.
Physical Spot Prices Across Major Indian Metros
Retail jewellery counters in key consumer hubs adjusted their rate cards sharply higher to match the nationwide Rs 10,000 per kilogram climb. In Chennai and Hyderabad, physical silver advanced by Rs 10,000 to touch Rs 3,00,000 per kilogram. Both southern centers recorded identical price tags, reflecting tight regional market supply alongside heightened wholesale replacement costs.
A parallel jump emerged across western and central trading hubs. In Mumbai and Bangalore, retail prices climbed by Rs 10,000 to trade at Rs 2,90,000 per kilogram on March 10. Comparable firming was visible in other trading centers, including Ahmedabad and Delhi, as bullion dealers passed on wholesale spikes driven by international parity movements and domestic exchange advances.
Exchange Momentum and Technical Trading Outlook
Trading on the Multi Commodity Exchange mirrored the physical market rally early in the morning session. By 10 am, MCX silver futures were changing hands 3.62 percent higher at Rs 2,76,823 per kilogram. The sharp morning leap signaled aggressive positioning from domestic traders following early-hours overseas support.
Evaluating chart patterns, Nirmal Bang Securities highlighted a bullish near-term setup, stating, "Silver prices are expected to rise." The brokerage outlined an actionable framework for market participants, suggesting long entries near 2,80,000 with a strict protective stop loss placed at 2,74,000, while targeting upside objectives spanning between 2,88,000 and 2,93,000. Such guidance indicates that institutional research desks view the bounce as more than just a momentary blip.
Global Spot Advances, Energy Spikes, and Geopolitical Swings
Across international desks, spot silver found fresh buying interest as a retreat in US Treasury yields preceding significant American employment figures lowered the carrying cost of non-yielding bullion. Spot metal pushed up 2 percent to reach $88.73 per ounce on Wednesday, reclaiming territory lost during earlier declines.
However, energy market turmoil created competing economic pressures. Gaurav Garg, Research Analyst at Lemonn Markets Desk, observed, "The surge in crude oil prices, which soared 37.91% to $102.96 per barrel (about ₹9,498), has intensified concerns over rising costs, dampening the allure of precious metals as safe-haven investments." He added that confrontation between the United States and Iran injected severe turbulence into financial assets, altering conventional safe-haven mechanics that typically bolster gold and silver during geopolitical friction.
Providing perspective on the broader day, the India Bullion and Jewellers Association noted, "We expect precious metals prices on Indian bourses to trade rangebound to slightly higher for the day." The association explained that comments from President Donald Trump hinting at an approaching resolution to Middle Eastern conflicts softened the greenback and moderated crude, extending a window of opportunity for precious metals to consolidate their morning gains.
