On July 10, 2026, the domestic stock market opened with a robust display of strength. During the week's concluding trading session, market sentiment remained positive, pushing major indices higher. The BSE Sensex started the day at 77,395.63, gaining 653.81 points or 0.85 percent. Simultaneously, the NSE Nifty 50 index commenced trading at 24,124.70, climbing 161.90 points or 0.68 percent. A majority of companies listed on both primary indices showed positive movement at the opening bell.
Broad Rally Across Nifty 50 Companies
Reviewing the broader market performance, 47 out of the 50 stocks in the Nifty 50 index opened in the green, while only 3 companies started the session in the red. Similarly, 28 out of the 30 companies comprising the Sensex opened with gains. UltraTech Cement shares saw a marginal decline of 0.08 percent, while Adani Ports shares opened flat without any change. Among Sensex components, Infosys, the country's second-largest IT company, stood out by surging 3.17 percent at the opening.
IT Sector Leads the Market Gains
IT stocks played a significant role in fueling the market's upward momentum today. TCS shares rallied 3.04 percent, while Tech Mahindra opened 1.72 percent higher. Other major performers included Trent with a 1.36 percent rise, Mahindra & Mahindra up by 1.34 percent, and Indigo gaining 1.30 percent. Reliance Industries saw an increase of 1.18 percent, Tata Steel rose 1.14 percent, Bajaj Finserv grew 1.07 percent, Bajaj Finance moved up 1.06 percent, and Asian Paints shares climbed 1.03 percent.
Performance of Other Major Stocks
Other companies contributing to the market rally include Eternal at 0.96 percent, L&T at 0.92 percent, Titan at 0.71 percent, SBI at 0.71 percent, Power Grid at 0.66 percent, Maruti Suzuki at 0.60 percent, and ITC at 0.60 percent. NTPC opened 0.57 percent higher, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank both gained 0.54 percent, and Hindustan Unilever was up 0.50 percent. Further gains were noted in BEL at 0.48 percent, Sun Pharma at 0.47 percent, Kotak Mahindra Bank at 0.30 percent, and Axis Bank at 0.22 percent. Bharti Airtel shares witnessed a minor decline of 0.08 percent.
