Tech Sector Surge Drives Benchmark Indices Higher as TCS and HCL Tech Lead Market Rebound

Domestic equities bounced back smartly from Tuesday's sluggishness, propelled by aggressive buying in major technology stocks. The rupee also posted solid gains, strengthening by 62 paise against the US dollar.

Indian equities shook off Tuesday's mild sluggishness to post an impressive recovery during Wednesday's trading session. Heavy buying across leading information technology counters helped lift both frontline benchmark indices firmly into positive territory. The 30-share BSE Sensex advanced 300 points, or 0.42 percent, to reach 72,225.42. Simultaneously, the broader NSE Nifty climbed 90 points, or 0.40 percent, to touch 22,453.10 as buyers returned to large-cap equities.

Market Breadth Reflects Stock-Specific Action

Despite the solid rise in frontline indices, the broader market breadth revealed mixed undertones during the initial phase of the session. Advancing counters were outnumbered by decliners on the National Stock Exchange. Around 1,147 stocks traded with gains, while 1,587 scrips slipped into the red. Another 144 stocks remained unchanged, highlighting that gains were largely concentrated in select heavyweights rather than spread uniformly across every pocket.
