Account holders across the country may encounter disruptions at bank branches as the United Forum of Bank Unions has called for a three-day nationwide strike spanning from Monday, September 28, to Wednesday, September 30, 2026. In anticipation of the collective action covering three back-to-back working days, State Bank of India has proactively communicated with its clientele, urging them to finish time-sensitive financial tasks well ahead of schedule. The institution stressed that concluding critical branch-dependent requirements before the protest begins will help avoid unnecessary hardship toward the close of the month.
Efforts to Maintain Essential Services Amid Branch Disruptions
In its outreach to customers, the lender clarified that comprehensive measures are being implemented to keep vital banking operations functional throughout the three-day window. Nonetheless, the institution acknowledged that counter operations and manual branch services could face noticeable strain or temporary halts depending on employee participation. Because commercial activities, payroll cycles, and routine financial commitments frequently peak toward the end of September, visitors relying on in-person assistance for services such as draft issuance, document submissions, cheque processing, or large-value counter withdrawals are encouraged to act early rather than waiting for the strike period.
Cash Management Through Self-Service Terminals and Service Points
To mitigate the impact on day-to-day cash requirements, the bank has directed users toward its automated infrastructure across the country. Patrons needing currency can rely on automated teller machines and automated deposit cum withdrawal machines, which remain operational for both cash dispensing and account crediting. In addition, authorized Customer Service Points are available to facilitate standard, eligible retail banking tasks within local neighborhoods. The bank also recommended that households and businesses projecting a higher cash requirement during those three consecutive days withdraw required sums beforehand to minimize exposure to potential ATM replenishment delays.
Relying on Digital Platforms for Daily Financial Needs
While physical premises might operate under constraints, the institution underscored that contemporary electronic channels offer uninterrupted service delivery. Customers are encouraged to conduct fund settlements, utility bill payments, and merchant transfers through digital avenues including internet banking, the YONO mobile platform, standard mobile banking services, and UPI. Leveraging these online systems ensures that everyday commerce remains unaffected even if neighborhood branches operate at reduced capacity. By embracing automated touchpoints and remote banking software, account holders can navigate the three-day disruption smoothly without visiting bank premises.
