The updated model displays several pronounced cosmetic modifications on its outer shell. Certain regions also receive the S 580e plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), combining a 3.0-liter inline-six engine with a 163 hp electric motor and a 22 kWh battery pack to generate a combined output of 585 hp and 750 Nm of torque, yielding an all-electric driving range of approximately 98 km. At the top of the pyramid, the S 680 can be specified with a V12 or a higher-output V8 generating 612 hp and 850 Nm.
