A modern civic hub was formally handed over to the residents of Totok Chingnyu village in Mon district on Wednesday as Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio led the inaugural proceedings. The newly constructed Village Council Hall represents an upgrade to the settlement's civic landscape, providing a centralized venue designed to accommodate grassroots gatherings, administrative deliberations, and social functions for the local population.
A Platform for Local Governance and Shared Decisions
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister remarked that the completed building stands as tangible proof of the collective resolve and progressive goals shared across the community. He noted that having a dedicated civic structure gives residents a reliable forum to assemble regularly, trade perspectives, and formulate collaborative solutions on matters touching the daily welfare of their locality. Rio conveyed his appreciation to the village council administration and local families, extending his wishes for enduring stability and economic progress.
Taking to social media platform X, the Chief Minister commemorated the milestone as an occasion of pride for the village. He said, “This is a proud moment for the village and a reflection of the collective efforts and aspirations of its people.” He further articulated his expectation that the venue will encourage constructive community dialogue while cementing harmony among the residents.
Broad Ministerial Presence Marks the Occasion
The dedication ceremony drew senior figures from the state administration, local elected leaders, and district bureaucrats. Among the cabinet members present alongside Rio were Roads and Bridges Minister G. Kaito Aye, Power and Parliamentary Affairs Minister K. G. Kenye, Forest, Environment and Climate Change and Village Guards Minister C. L. John, and Housing and Mechanical Engineering Minister P. Bashangmongba Chang.
The administrative delegation also included Member of Legislative Assembly Mankhao Konyak, alongside N. Thongwang Konyak, Chairman of the Nagaland Hotels and Tourism Development Corporation Limited (NHTDCL). Community representatives, elders, and district personnel attended in sizable numbers to tour the fresh infrastructure, which is slated to serve as the nerve center for local civic engagements and traditional consultations going forward.
