The district administration and the tourism department have launched a comprehensive development initiative to upgrade urban infrastructure and enhance the experience of pilgrims visiting the holy town of Chitrakoot. Under this ambitious plan, the key entry point of the city, the Bedi Puliya intersection, is undergoing a massive beautification and modernization drive. With an allocated budget of approximately Rs 4 crore to Rs 5 crore, the redevelopment project aims to completely revamp the junction, presenting a harmonious blend of spiritual heritage and modern civic facilities for arriving tourists.
Grand Lord Shri Ram Statue and Green Corridor to Welcome Devotees
The Bedi Puliya intersection holds strategic importance for visitors coming to Chitrakoot, serving as the primary gateway from where pilgrims begin their journey toward various ancient maths, temples, and holy sites. Recognizing its status as the face of the town, authorities designed a redevelopment plan centered around spiritual aesthetics. The focal point of the project will feature a majestic statue of Lord Shri Ram installed at the center of the intersection. Surrounding the monument, a dedicated park-like zone is being laid out with lush green lawns, vibrant landscaping, and durable stone benches designed for visitors to relax.
Additionally, the central median connecting the Bedi Puliya intersection to the UPTI intersection is receiving a unique ecological design. Landscape artists are using living plants and green cover along the road divider to craft the sacred Charan Paduka symbols representing the footprints of Lord Shri Ram. This green artistic feature along the central avenue is expected to captivate travelers and immediately immerse them in the spiritual atmosphere of Chitrakoot upon arrival.
Red Sandstone Pathways, Fountains, and LED Displays Under Construction
Outlining the technical details of the project, Chitrakoot District Magistrate Pulkit Garg stated that the initiative includes multiple civil infrastructure and aesthetic upgrades. Construction teams are building a traditional red sandstone pathway alongside robust interlocking paved walkways to ensure seamless movement for pedestrians. Clear directional signage boards are being set up across the complex to help tourists navigate the spiritual city effortlessly.
To elevate the visual appeal during evening hours, the project incorporates advanced illumination systems and an artistic water fountain. High-tech modern lighting combined with the cascading fountain will transform the junction into a vibrant public space at night. Furthermore, large LED screens are being installed within the plaza to broadcast essential tourist announcements, local heritage information, and live updates regarding religious ceremonies taking place across Chitrakoot.
A Major Evening Attraction for Local Residents and Tourists
Once the Rs 4 crore to Rs 5 crore beautification project is completed, the Bedi Puliya junction will evolve beyond a simple traffic roundabout into a major public attraction in its own right. The combination of illuminated park spaces, comfortable seating arrangements, and scenic water features will offer a serene environment for evening strolls. Local officials anticipate that this modernized entrance will set a new benchmark for tourism infrastructure in the region, providing visitors with memorable first impressions of Chitrakoot.
