A severe incident of corporal punishment and harassment involving a nine-year-old fourth-grade student has come to light in the eastern part of Ahmedabad. The student had allegedly passed a note bearing an 'I love you' message to a female classmate during school hours. Upon learning of the note, the school authorities summoned the young boy and allegedly subjected him to severe physical and verbal reprimands. Distressed by her child's traumatised condition upon returning home, the boy's mother approached the local police and lodged a formal complaint against both the school principal and a teacher.
Interrogation Followed the Discovery of Classroom Note
The episode occurred on 19 September, when the nine-year-old student scribbled an affectionate message on a slip of paper and handed it over to a girl in his classroom. Following a complaint regarding the matter, the school staff conducted a quick inspection and located the slip inside the room. The principal and the teacher subsequently called the boy in for intense questioning. According to the mother's formal allegations, the authorities aggressively scolded the young child and struck him repeatedly with a ruler, leaving him entirely petrified and anxious.
Distressed Child Locked Himself Away After Returning Home
The aftermath of the disciplinary action took a harsh toll on the young student's mental state. Upon returning home from school, the terrified child rushed into his room and bolted the door from inside. His family had to spend considerable time pleading with him before he finally opened the door, visibly shaken and weeping uncontrollably. When his mother questioned him about his state of panic, the child narrated how he had been assaulted by his principal and teacher over the slip. The mother stated that the child faced physical assault for an innocent childhood act, and added that school officials flatly refused to grant them access to the campus CCTV footage.
School Administration Claims Provocation and Extortion Attempts
In response to the allegations, the school management offered a contrasting account of the situation. According to school officials, the male student had repeatedly troubled the female classmate, and the recovered note was part of ongoing harassment. The administration further alleged that the boy's family had demanded money in exchange for dropping the issue and reaching a compromise. The student's family strongly refuted these counterclaims, stating that they were not seeking any monetary settlement and were solely fighting for justice against the brutality inflicted upon an underage student.

Given the delicate nature of the case and the age of the victim, law enforcement officials are handling the probe with high sensitivity. Investigators are actively recording detailed depositions from the minor student, his parents, and the school staff members present during the incident. Simultaneously, administrative authorities have stepped in to evaluate the school's conduct. District Education Officer Rohit Chaudhari confirmed that a comprehensive report has been sought from the school administration.
