Weather conditions took a dramatic turn across Delhi and surrounding regions as thick cloud cover and intense downpours plunged the capital into midday darkness. The sudden change in weather brought much-needed relief from humid conditions, while prompting weather authorities to issue strict warnings regarding continuous precipitation across various parts of the country.
Weather Department Issues High Alerts
The India Meteorological Department issued a red alert on Monday warning of heavy downpours across four states. Yellow alerts have also been issued for several other regions expecting significant rainfall. Meanwhile, weather conditions are expected to remain largely normal across most districts in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Jammu and Kashmir.
Daytime Darkness and Overcast Skies in Delhi
Skies remained heavily overcast in Delhi since Monday morning. By afternoon, dense storm clouds combined with sudden heavy rain created near-total darkness, reducing visibility and prompting motorists to drive with headlights on. According to the IMD, overcast skies and persistent spells of rain continued to dominate the capital throughout the day.
