Under the organic farming promotion scheme, the agriculture department is rolling out financial assistance to help farmers install domestic biogas units on their properties. Households that rear cows, buffaloes, or other cattle can cut down their monthly LPG cylinder expenditure, which typically ranges between Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000. The broader goal behind this effort is to accelerate the adoption of clean rural energy while trimming overall farm management expenses. The digital registration procedure has been opened for eligible applicants seeking the financial grant.
Subsidy Structure and Plant Specifications
According to the department guidelines, financial assistance covering 50 percent of the total project cost, capped at a maximum of Rs 21,000, is being extended for setting up a biogas plant with a capacity of two cubic meters. Once commissioned, the generated biogas directly serves household culinary needs. The actual monetary savings on commercial cooking fuel will naturally correlate with the domestic consumption patterns of the family alongside the daily volume of gas generated by the unit. Farmers interested in claiming this benefit must submit their details through the agriculture department's official DBT portal. The authorities have established September 30, 2026, as the concluding date for submitting online applications.
Energy Generation and Organic Slurry Utilization
The utility of a domestic biogas plant extends well beyond standard kitchen stoves. With proper technical setup and conversion equipment in place, the produced gas can also be utilized for decentralized electricity generation. Moreover, the digested byproduct slurry released from the digester acts as an exceptional organic manure for farm plots. Cultivators can direct this nutrient-rich liquid sludge straight into their crop fields or feed it into vermicomposting pits to prepare fortified bio-fertilizer. This recycling process enhances natural soil fertility, retains moisture, and substantially reduces household reliance on costly commercial chemical fertilizers.
Gaya Targets and Infrastructure Requirements
For the financial year 2026-27, an operational quota of establishing 10 biogas plants has been allotted for Gaya district. District Agriculture Officer Sanjeev Kumar outlined that the standard Deenbandhu model selected for implementation requires an area measuring at least 10x12 square feet. He explained that while the state offers a direct subsidy of up to Rs 21,000 per functional installation, an additional allocation of Rs 1,500 is disbursed to the designated service provider. Consequently, the cumulative financial assistance sanctioned per working installation amounts to Rs 22,500.
Application Progress and Verification Norms
Sanjeev Kumar stated that the scheme has elicited a strong rural response, with 114 farmers submitting their forms across the district thus far. Following initial departmental scrutiny, formal approval has already been granted to three applicants to commence construction of their biogas facilities. Families possessing active cattle resources can readily feed fresh dung into the digestor to sustain uninterrupted gas output for daily cooking and potential power needs. Farmers planning to participate must complete their registrations on the DBT portal before the September 30, 2026 cutoff date, ensuring all prerequisites, documentation, and operational conditions are verified prior to submission.
