Speaking at an event in Nadia district, Moitra questioned Bandyopadhyay, who has served as the party leader in the Lok Sabha, over his decision to seek four additional weeks from the Lok Sabha Speaker to file his reply to a formal notice.
Objections to Four-Week Extension from the Speaker
The Lok Sabha Speaker had previously served a notice asking Sudip Bandyopadhyay to clarify his position regarding a pending matter. In response, Bandyopadhyay requested an extension of four weeks, citing health concerns along with other reasons. Mahua Moitra strongly criticized this delay, questioning why repeated requests for more time were being made despite earlier deadlines and commitments that had already been discussed within political circles.
Allegations Regarding Health Claims and Engagements
Addressing the press in Nadia, Moitra raised specific questions regarding the consistency of statements coming from Bandyopadhyay. She recounted that when inquiries were made about his whereabouts, it was stated that he was admitted at Apollo Hospital due to stomach pain, yet he was subsequently seen traveling in his vehicle. Moitra further alleged that engagements were taking place, including having breakfast with the Prime Minister, which directly contradicted the claims of severe illness being put forward to seek more time.

She pointed out that references had earlier been made to being part of ACPI and the NDA, with a merger expected to take place between September 1 and September 22. Reaffirming her own steadfast loyalty, Moitra emphasized that she stands entirely with the Trinamool Congress and Mamata Banerjee, noting that if asked at any moment, her allegiance to the party remains unequivocal.
