Residents across India's Silicon Valley should prepare for significant electricity disruptions as the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) has announced extensive power cuts on Tuesday, July 21. Maintenance and repair tasks undertaken by the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) will affect more than 80 different localities. The duration and timing of these outages are expected to vary, heavily dependent on the specific scale of work required at individual substations.
Morning to Mid-Afternoon Disruptions
In the northern and central belts, operations at the Hebbal facility will lead to blackouts lasting from 11 am until 3 pm. Citizens in the Ganganagar vicinity will be without electricity, impacting Ganganagar Market, Lakshmaiah Block, Muniramaiah Block, Weaver Colony, CBI Quarters, RBI Colony, CPU Block, DGQ Quarters, the UAS Campus, the C4 Subdivision Office, and Giddappa Block.
Widespread Cuts in R.T. Nagar and Nearby Layouts
The R.T. Nagar and Dinnur zones will see sweeping cuts. Properties around the local police station, Dinnur Main Road, the Punjab National Bank area, Munnappa Colony, the HMT Block, Chamundi Nagar, and the Ex-Servicemen Colony will lose power. Likewise, Ashwathnagar, Dars Colony, Krishnappa Block, and Nrupatunga Layout are on the list. Apartment complexes including Gayatri, Ratan, Jain, and Alpine, along with the CBI Main Road, will face the same four-hour halt.
Moving toward the MLA Layout, the utility company has slated Venugopala Layout, Venugopal Reddy Layout, Judges Colony, Karianna Layout, and Yogeshwar Nagar for disconnection. Vishweshwar Block, Kuvempu Layout, Sterling Garden Layout, both phases of Vinayaka Layout, and Muniswami Gowda Apartment are similarly impacted.
Key thoroughfares and landmarks will not be spared. Traffic and commerce along SSA Road, the Ring Road, 80 Feet Road, 60 Feet Road, Kalpana Chawla Road, Guddadahalli Road, and Guddahalli Circle will experience disruptions. The IVRI and Police Quarters, alongside Cholanayakanahalli, Cholanagar, AGS Colony, SBM Colony, and Anandagiri Extension, will also go dark.
Sanjayanagar and Hebbal Vicinity
A massive cluster of neighborhoods around Sanjayanagar and Hebbal will face the 11 am to 3 pm outage. This covers AECS Layout, KEB Layout, Hoysala Apartment, Geddalahalli, Ashwath Nagarasan Jayanagar, Bhupasandra, Central Excise Layout, Mohammed Layout, VSNL White House, RT Block, and Nagarahalli. The broader Hebbal and Guddadahalli region, including Nebbal SS Block, Kempanna Layout, Subramani Colony, Kuntigram, MSH Layout, Srimati Layout, and Amarajyoti Layout, will be affected. Rounding out this block are Gundapareddy Layout, Chidanandareddy Layout, GO Sai Slum, Netaji Nagar, Chinnamma Layout, Sitappa Layout, CIL Layout, Sunrise Colony, Maitri Bazar, Thimmakka Layout, and Akkayamma Layout.
Late Morning Disruptions in the South
Meanwhile, infrastructure improvements around the Frestige Falcon City, Khodas Glass Factory, and Elita Promenade facilities will plunge southern localities into darkness from 10 am to 2 pm. The Doddakallasandra and Kanakapura Road stretch will be heavily impacted, covering the main road itself, Poram Mall, Freestyle Falcon City Apartments, Elita Promenade Apartment, Kumarans School, and the JSS School surroundings.
In the Konanakunte and Talaghattapura belt, the local government school area and Chunchagatta Village will face supply halts. Further disruptions are scheduled for Srinidhi Layout, Avalahalli, and Sharadanagar.
Finally, the Narayana Nagar sector, which includes its 3rd Block, Muni Reddy Layout, Jothi Layout, Basavaraju Layout, and Supraja Nagar, will join the 10 am to 2 pm cut. Surrounding Sarakki and Jarganahalli, locations like Sarakki Kere, Sarakki Signal, Jarganahalli Park, Rajiv Gandhi Road, Nagarjuna Premier Apartment, Gangapatipur, Gangadhareshwar Temple, Shanti Shamil, and K.R. Layout will also remain without electricity during this window.
