A severe rush of citizens has overwhelmed the Aadhaar Seva Kendra established at the BSNL office premises in Mughalsarai, located in Uttar Pradesh's Chandauli district. Although the facility was introduced to offer local residents free and smooth access to essential identification services, the ground situation has deteriorated into prolonged waiting lines outside the center. Citizens are forced to spend several hours standing in queues, leaving their daily employment and personal duties behind, with many making repeated visits over multiple days. A lack of clear communication regarding queue sequencing and estimated completion times remains the primary grievance among visitors.
Relocation from Niamatabad Block Triggers Surge in Footfall
The Aadhaar facility at the Mughalsarai BSNL premises commenced operations only recently, having previously functioned out of the Niamatabad block office. The shift was intended to consolidate services in a more accessible central hub so that people would not have to travel to distant rural administrative units for Aadhaar updates and enrollments. However, since opening in Mughalsarai, the center has witnessed a heavy inflow of applicants, with around 50 people seen waiting in line at a single time. The size of the crowd illustrates the high demand for new registrations, biometric updates, and demographic corrections across the surrounding areas.
Residents Report Four Days of Repeated Visits
The persistent delays have drawn sharp criticism from individuals who have spent multiple consecutive days trying to get their paperwork processed. Among those standing outside, Sudama shared that he has been facing distress for the past four days while attempting to finish his Aadhaar work. He travels roughly 10 kilometers each time to reach the center, only to face recurring uncertainties and delays. Most applicants arrive with the expectation that a government-run center will resolve their queries in a prompt, streamlined manner, but the unending queues have turned the process into an exhausting ordeal.
Another applicant, Ashok Sharma, explained that he had taken his position in the queue early in the morning and was still waiting for his turn hours later. He noted that the public could be spared unnecessary hardship if the center established an orderly movement system and clearly communicated current operating capacity and waiting times to everyone in line. Without clear guidance, applicants remain stranded in uncertainty.
Work Leaves Wasted Amid Ambiguous Token Procedures
The operational bottlenecks are also impacting working individuals who must sacrifice daily earnings or scheduled leave to visit the center. Bablu Kanojia stated that he took time off from work specifically to get his Aadhaar paperwork sorted out. He had anticipated that the entire procedure would take no more than half an hour, but the slow progress raised the risk that he might have to return empty-handed, resulting in lost work hours and a wasted day off.
Expressing similar frustrations, Ansari Ahmad pointed out that the center provides no clear information on how numbers are assigned or how applicants are called inside the facility. He emphasized that as long as people remain in the dark about their specific turn, waiting indefinitely in crowded queues becomes unmanageable. Both men and women were seen enduring the wait without clarity on whether their applications would be processed before closing hours.
Need for Systematic Queue Management and Transparency
While the establishment of the Aadhaar service center at the Mughalsarai BSNL premises was intended to deliver free, dependable, and convenient identity services, the absence of an organized queuing structure is undermining that purpose. Ensuring clear announcements regarding token numbers, daily intake limits, and realistic waiting durations could immediately ease public inconvenience. Without these organizational improvements, local residents will continue to face frustrating delays and repeat visits just to complete routine identification tasks.
