Donald Trump used a post on the social media platform Truth Social to announce the nomination of Chris Klomp as the next Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). Trump described the move as a great honor and offered lavish praise for Klomp.
In his post, Trump said Klomp's rapid rise within the administration proves he is a potential star. He called Klomp a strong and inspiring leader as well as a highly successful entrepreneur, adding that wherever Klomp goes, he earns trust.
A leader of principle
Trump portrayed Klomp as a person of principle who is deeply committed to serving the American people and fixing what he called the country's broken healthcare system. He acknowledged that HHS is a massive and complex organization, but insisted Klomp knows exactly how to run it.
According to Trump, Klomp is doing a fantastic job leading Medicare and overseeing day-to-day operations. He noted that the decision was made jointly by Secretary Kennedy, Dr. Oz, and himself.
A bold claim on drug prices
Trump wrote that Klomp's experience building a big business gave him the toughness to push through desperately needed major reforms. Among them is Trump's Most Favored Nation Drug Pricing Policy, which he says is aimed at stopping foreign freeriding off the backs of the American people.
Trump argued that it is time for other countries to pay their fair share, and claimed they are now doing so. He also asserted that drug prices in the United States have come down massively over the past year.
Closing his post, Trump said Klomp puts America First and will reform healthcare to make America great and healthy again. He congratulated Klomp on the nomination.
Background
According to news reports, the Trump administration has seen several major personnel changes recently. These reportedly included a shake-up at the Department of Homeland Security, where Kristi Noem was removed and a replacement named. Klomp's nomination is seen as part of this ongoing reshuffling within the administration.
