Yogi Adityanath used his X account, @myogiadityanath, to highlight the growing importance of combining drone technology with search and rescue efforts. In the post, he wrote, "Integrated use of drone based search and rescue operations is a requirement of today," and shared a link alongside the message.
Where drone based search operations have played out recently
According to news reports, several regions have recently seen drones deployed for search operations. In Rajouri, CCTV footage showed two suspects crossing a road at midnight, prompting authorities to issue an alert and launch a search using drones and sniffer dogs across an area stretching from Bhangai to Kopra Top. In the forests of Kishtwar, Jaish terrorists were said to be surrounded, leading the army to carry out a search operation with the help of drones and tracker dogs. Separately, in Hathras, a leopard like animal attacked a dog, after which the forest department flew drones over the area to search for the animal, triggering panic among local residents.
Military drone capability has also expanded
Beyond search operations, drone capability on the security front has also grown. The range of Indian drones used during Operation Sindoor has been increased threefold, extending surveillance and precision strike capability deeper across the border. This gives context to why Adityanath's post comes at a time when drones are playing an increasingly central role in search and security operations across the country.
Public reaction
Adityanath's post drew a mixed response on social media. While some users backed the push for wider drone use, others raised separate questions linked to the post.
