A major political controversy has emerged in Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan, where a police case has been filed against Congress MLA Vinod Gothwal. The legislator representing the Pilibanga constituency is accused of demanding and accepting a bribe of 60 lakh rupees. Along with the MLA, his Personal Security Officer, Mohit Bishnoi, has also been named as an accused in the police complaint.
Details of the Allegations
The case was registered following a complaint by Sharda Poonia, a former Congress councillor. According to the complaint, Sharda Poonia paid the substantial sum of 60 lakh rupees to the MLA in exchange for a promise to secure her the position of municipal chairperson. However, Poonia did not win the election. The dispute escalated when she requested the return of her money, alleging that she was subsequently threatened with death instead of receiving a refund.
MLA Response to the Charges
Responding to the serious allegations, MLA Vinod Gothwal has denied any wrongdoing. The lawmaker stated that the case is a baseless conspiracy designed to tarnish his political reputation in the region. The police are currently conducting an investigation into the matter to verify the claims made in the complaint.
