A fresh political controversy has erupted in West Bengal after Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari launched a scathing attack on the previous Trinamool Congress administration. While speaking to reporters following a groundbreaking ceremony for a party office, he launched a direct verbal assault on the leadership without naming Mamata Banerjee, accusing the former administration of practicing extreme appeasement politics and lacking any fundamental understanding of nationalism.
Allegations over separate flag and slogans
Continuing his sharp critique, Adhikari alleged that the former state government harbored a deeper agenda to reshape West Bengal. He stated that the administration had commissioned a separate anthem for the state, designed a distinct flag, and adopted the neighboring country's slogan 'Joy Bangla'. According to him, these steps were part of a larger, deliberate design to alter the cultural and political fabric of the region.
Call for unity and national leadership
During his interaction, the Chief Minister urged the citizens of the state to remain united and stand firmly behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He reiterated that the previous regime's policies were entirely devoid of nationalist values, and their overarching plan was aimed at eventually converting the state into what he termed 'Greater Bangladesh'.
Warning against fringe elements and opposition
Targeting the Cockroach Janata Party over its protests concerning alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, Adhikari issued a strong caution to the public. He urged people to ensure that elements he described as 'ideological Maoists', 'tukde-tukde' factions, cockroaches, and termites are never allowed to take root or flourish anywhere in the state.
