Political tensions escalated in Jaipur as the main opposition party launched a fierce protest against the Rajasthan education department's directive banning media coverage inside government schools. Led by Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully, Congress lawmakers took to the streets to express strong resentment over the deteriorating condition of public educational institutions and the state government's restrictive policies. Demonstrators staged a protest foot march starting from the Poddar Deaf and Mute School near Trimurti Circle to the state Legislative Assembly building.
Media Restrictions and Opposition Allegations
The controversy stems from a recent order issued by the state education department prohibiting videography and press coverage inside the premises of government-run schools. Opposition leaders have strongly condemned the move, alleging that the administration is attempting to conceal the reality of poorly managed schools from the public eye. According to the Congress party, the ban is designed to hide the alarming lack of basic amenities and crumbling school infrastructure across Rajasthan. To directly challenge this order, the Congress delegation first visited the Poddar school campus to bring the ground realities of government education to light.
Critical Concerns Over Government School Infrastructure
During the march, Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully and fellow Congress legislators raised serious concerns regarding the failing state of public schools throughout the province. Party leaders highlighted that a majority of government schools suffer from a severe scarcity of fundamental facilities, while many school buildings are in a dilapidated state, endangering the future and safety of enrolled students. Protesters criticized the education department, stating that instead of addressing infrastructural deficiencies and focusing on student welfare, the administration is prioritizing censorship and restrictive decrees.

The demonstration began at Trimurti Circle outside the Poddar Deaf and Mute School, where a substantial number of Congress MLAs and party workers assembled. Following their visit to the school, the delegation proceeded on foot toward the Legislative Assembly, raising slogans against the state government along the route. Opposition leaders issued a stern warning to the administration, declaring that if the ban on media and public access to government school premises is not revoked immediately, the Congress party will intensify its agitation and launch a comprehensive statewide protest across Rajasthan.
