Abbas Ansari remembers his father Mukhtar
Addressing the gathering, MLA Abbas Ansari introduced himself from the stage, stating that he is the MLA of Mau and the son of Mukhtar Ansari, and that his blood runs through his veins. He invited the public to reach out whenever they needed him. Mentioning his imprisonment, he stated that he was sent to jail for four years, but he did not cower in fear and has returned among the people even stronger.
Ghazipur described as a land of bravehearts
Abbas Ansari remarked that the land of Ghazipur has historically been a land of brave individuals. Martyr Ramdular Yadav laid down his life to defend the country. He noted that there is hardly any family in the district that has not sent its son to serve the nation. From the stage, Abbas further remarked that if his own times were difficult, the public's times were equally challenging, but the tides would soon turn.
Political background and election win
Abbas Ansari had won the election from the Mau Sadar assembly constituency in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections on the ticket of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party. That assembly election was contested by the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party under an alliance with the Samajwadi Party.
Reinstatement of assembly membership in 2025
However, a lower court had sentenced Abbas Ansari to two years in prison in a 2022 hate speech case, following which his assembly membership was canceled. Later, after receiving relief from the Allahabad High Court, the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Secretariat reinstated the assembly membership of MLA Abbas Ansari from the Mau Sadar assembly constituency on September 8, 2025.
