National BJP president Nitin Naveen is on the second day of his Uttar Pradesh visit today. Currently in Lucknow, Naveen will hold separate meetings with the state's two deputy chief ministers, Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak. He is set to have lunch at Brajesh Pathak's residence, while he will sit down for tea and conversation at Keshav Prasad Maurya's place. Earlier, Naveen also met leaders of NDA allies in UP and held detailed discussions on strategy for the 2027 assembly elections. In the evening, he will attend an important meeting of the BJP organisation. Overall, his round of meetings with party workers and allied leaders has continued without a break.
Extensive talks with MPs, MLAs and ministers
At a meeting with UP BJP leaders on Saturday, Nitin Naveen laid out his formula for winning the 2027 assembly elections. He told party leaders plainly that instead of fighting among themselves, they must direct all their energy against the opposition. During this meeting, Naveen also held separate discussions with MPs, MLAs and ministers. He said the bugle for the 2027 assembly elections has already been sounded, and that large processions alone will achieve nothing. According to him, winning the election requires leaders and workers to go directly among the people and engage with them. After the meeting with NDA leaders concluded, Naveen claimed that in 2027, the BJP would form a government with a thumping majority together with its NDA allies.
A victory formula for NDA partners too
Following the meeting with NDA parties, Nishad Party chief Sanjay Nishad said there was no discussion whatsoever on seat sharing during the meeting. According to him, the conversation stayed focused on how the alliance could jointly win the 2027 election. Nishad also clarified that the Ram Mandir donation theft case was not discussed at the meeting either. Around the same time, OP Rajbhar made a sharp remark on the seat sharing question.
We ask for a licence for a cannon, and we get handed a country pistol.
Rajbhar's remark hinted at the unease within allied parties over how seats are being divided. However, he also added that the shared goal of every NDA party is to secure a thumping majority in 2027, and that the entire alliance is working together toward that victory.
Countering the opposition's Ram Mandir narrative
The core purpose of Nitin Naveen's UP visit is to take stock of the party's ground level preparation ahead of the 2027 election and to give workers and office-bearers a fresh formula for victory. Several of the points he raised with BJP leaders in Lucknow are being seen as significant. Naveen said the opposition has built a narrative against the party around the Ram Mandir and other issues, and that this narrative can only be broken by going among the people directly. He told MPs, MLAs and office-bearers to go to the public and openly highlight the achievements of the Modi government at the centre and the Yogi government in the state, so that the impact of the opposition's propaganda is reduced.
Every area must be toured every month
Naveen instructed state office-bearers that they must tour their respective area and district every single month. He also gave a direct piece of advice to MPs and MLAs to avoid mutual conflict. He said leaders should set aside personal differences and work with coordination, because clashes and ego battles between MPs and MLAs directly hurt the party at election time. He stated in clear terms that with the election now close, this is the time to work with team spirit, and that instead of fighting each other, leaders must put all their energy into fighting opposition parties.
