Congress legislature party leader Tharhai Cuthbert downplayed the remarks from rival party members as fan-driven enthusiasm rather than formal policy. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K. Selvaperunthagai urged caution against distractions, maintaining that voters alone will decide the country's next leader.
