Dehradun is gearing up to host a grand literary celebration as the city prepares for its very first edition of 'Kitab Kauthig' starting October 23. Designed to pull children and youth away from screens and back into the tangible world of reading, the three-day event will take place at the Doon Library and Research Centre. Book enthusiasts will find an impressive collection of roughly 80,000 books brought together under a single roof by more than 75 esteemed publishers from across the country and abroad.
Special Attractions and AI Corners for Children
Organizers have tailored the event to foster the holistic development of school students through a wide array of engaging activities. According to Doon Library librarian D. K. Pande, children will have the unique opportunity to showcase handwritten books they personally created during the recently concluded five-day 'Balprahari Bal Lekhan Karyashala'. Furthermore, the venue will feature specialized science and artificial intelligence corners, puppet-making workshops, language and culture sessions, wall-painting activities, and adventure sports designed to spark young creativity and expand horizons.
Literary Discussions and Cultural Evenings
Praveen Bhatt, publisher at Samay Sakshya, noted that the festival will give readers a rare chance to interact directly with renowned authors and participate in insightful literary debates. The schedule includes nature walks, poetry symposiums, handicraft stalls, and cultural evening performances by invited artists from different regions. Prominent writers, social activists, and theatre artists from all over the country are slated to join, making it remarkably easy for readers to explore diverse genres and subjects in one accessible location.
Career Counseling Sessions to Guide the Youth
Beyond literature, the fair aims to assist students and teenagers in navigating their professional futures. Subject-matter experts arriving from various parts of India will conduct dedicated career counseling sessions during the program. These interactive segments will provide students with valuable guidance regarding future educational paths, career options, and skill development opportunities, fulfilling the broader mission of instilling reading habits and broadening intellectual scopes.
