The artificial intelligence landscape is flooded with personal and productivity-based assistants, with new iterations debuting on a weekly basis. Entering this fiercely competitive arena, Anthropic is introducing a new application called Claude Duet, aiming to capture user attention and rival platforms like Meta Muse, OpenAI Dots, Hark, Instinct, Grok Bot, and Fo.
Designed for Professionals and Small Businesses
Anthropic stated that the new agent is specifically tailored to assist professionals and small enterprises in automating and managing their workflow. The company draws a clear distinction between Duet and personal agents like Instinct, pointing out that Duet is not optimized for running general errands or booking tickets, nor does it display its browser activity in real time.
Background Processing and Daily Briefings
Instead of handling routine chores, Duet is capable of compiling a daily briefing for its users, constructing dashboards, or suggesting actions derived from user data. Much like contemporary agents, Duet can execute tasks in the background utilizing its dedicated virtual machine while the user focuses elsewhere, returning whenever it requires human authorization.
A Shifting Market and Business Focus
This rollout coincides with a broader market shift moving past basic AI assistants toward capable agents that can operate autonomously on behalf of users. Many of Anthropic’s chief competitors are similarly pivoting toward enterprise use cases. While Meta Muse functions primarily as a personal assistant, the company also offers a variant targeted at small businesses with integrations across other applications. OpenAI Dots shares a comparable business tilt through its deep integration with professional toolsets.
Advanced Architecture and Payment Capabilities
Anthropic highlights that Duet proactively delivers recommendations as it oversees ongoing tasks. Built on top of the Claude Opus 5.5 model, Duet can interface with over 6,000 connectors and plugins available within the Claude Marketplace. Furthermore, it possesses the capability to execute online purchases on behalf of users via Stripe’s Link digital wallet or Shopify’s Shop Pay.
Security Protocols and User Approval
The company emphasized that critical steps such as financial transactions will strictly mandate user approval. However, Duet is programmed not to trade securities or transfer funds between accounts. Additionally, Anthropic deployed a novel classifier designed to inspect every message to prevent sensitive data leakage. By default, the agent will decline any requests soliciting credit card numbers and government identification documents.
Availability and Access Details
Claude Duet is accessible as a mobile application on iOS and Android, alongside a web version via Claude.ai for Pro and Max subscribers in a research preview format. Interested users are required to join a waitlist in order to gain access.
