New Delhi: A massive political controversy has erupted following a sharp and controversial statement made by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In fierce opposition to these remarks, the Bharatiya Janata Party has organized widespread protests across the entire country today. The entire dispute originated during a public event held in Patna, where an exchange from the audience triggered the provocative response from the opposition leader.
Origin of the Controversy in Patna
The incident unfolded while addressing a commemorative event in Patna on the occasion of the 139th birth anniversary of Bihar's first Chief Minister, Sri Krishna Singh. During his address, when someone from the audience interrupted and shouted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not going anywhere, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge reacted in anger and stated from the stage that even Modi's father will have to go. This unparliamentary language has now sent political temperatures soaring, drawing sharp condemnation from various quarters.
Nationwide Protests and Effigy Burnings by BJP
Reacting swiftly to the remarks, the ruling party has adopted an aggressive stance, organizing protests across every district headquarters nationwide. BJP workers have taken to the streets, raising slogans against the opposition leader. In Patna, a protest march has been scheduled from the state party office to the Income Tax roundabout, accompanied by plans for effigy burning. Party leaders maintained that political differences must never be reduced to personal insults and low-level attacks.
Accusations of Ideological Bankruptcy
Senior leaders launched scathing attacks on the Congress party, claiming that the vocabulary used by Mallikarjun Kharge was previously associated with criminals and thugs. Labeling the remarks as a sign of the grand old party's ideological bankruptcy, leaders asserted that the organization now resembles a mafia gang rather than a political outfit. The BJP has demanded an unconditional apology from the Congress chief for using language that crosses all boundaries of public decorum.
Reactions from Top Leaders and Legal Action
Union Home Minister Amit Shah strongly condemned the remarks, stating that by making such indecent comments, Kharge has shattered all norms of decency. He alleged that this is not the first time the opposition has used derogatory language against the Prime Minister or his family, recalling past instances where the Prime Minister's mother was insulted, he was labeled a merchant of death, and his humble background as a tea vendor was mocked. Meanwhile, legal troubles have mounted for Kharge as a formal police complaint has been lodged against him at a local police station in Patna.
Nitins Strong Condemnation on Social Media
Bihar BJP President Nitin नवीन also criticized the remarks severely. Writing on the social media platform X, he stated that the unparliamentary and indecent language used against the country's Prime Minister in Patna exposes the absolute ideological bankruptcy of the Congress party. He added that the citizens of the nation are watching this low-level politics closely and will deliver an appropriate response when the right time arrives.
