Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a rigorous attack against Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi during an event held in Raebareli. Questioning the statements made by the Raebareli MP, the Chief Minister asserted that disparaging India's traditions, heritage, and foundational values is completely unacceptable. He emphasized that holding the constitutional position of Leader of Opposition comes with a solemn responsibility toward the nation's democracy.
Constitutional Responsibility and Institutional Respect
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath referred to Rahul Gandhi's recent remarks in Maharashtra where he urged women to break free from the constraints of Manusmriti. The Chief Minister pointed out that a society that forgets its ancestors and historical roots forfeits its future. He accused the opposition leader of maligning Uttar Pradesh whenever he travels outside the state and insulting India's global reputation whenever he travels abroad.
Focusing on the dignity of public institutions, Yogi Adityanath stressed that the position of Prime Minister represents an institution of the nation, not merely an individual. He remarked that using derogatory language against the Prime Minister undermines India's institutional authority and creates an identity crisis for the present generation. He further noted that asking for proof from the armed forces fighting at the borders and questioning the existence of Lord Ram in Ayodhya reflect poorly on the opposition's commitment to national pride and security.
Criticism of State Congress Chief Ajay Rai
The Chief Minister also turned his focus toward Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai, criticizing his public conduct. Yogi Adityanath mentioned that Congress leaders pay visits to the Hanumangarhi temple in Ayodhya and offer prayers, only to indulge in a fish feast right after stepping outside. He described this behavior as clear hypocrisy and a double standard that disrespects religious sentiments.
Recalling past events, the Chief Minister highlighted that Ajay Rai failed to take a firm stand against the dangerous mafia responsible for his own brother's murder, choosing instead to submit before that very element. The reference was made in relation to the murder of Ajay Rai's brother, in which mafia-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari was implicated.
Political Opposition and Administrative Reforms
This attack follows comments made by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday targeting the Samajwadi Party and its chief Akhilesh Yadav. He predicted that voters would completely wipe out the Samajwadi Party in the next assembly elections, alleging that the party prioritized family interests over public welfare and neglected the needs of the poor.
In a related development aimed at streamlining governance across Uttar Pradesh, the state administration underwent a major administrative reshuffle, resulting in the transfer and realignment of duties for 17 IAS officers.
